The Manual Reader allows the user to read the company’s manuals (such as the ISM manual, plus any other manuals the company wants its personnel to be aware of: e.g. ISO9902, ISO 14000, IMO Codes and Resolutions).
Users can locate relevant sections or subsection in the manuals using key word searches.
Additionally, users are able to annotate sections of the manuals and to link paragraphs with corresponding roles and tasks.
Users can make the following annotations:
Personal: Only the user who has made this annotation can view it, allowing every user to make his own notes.
General: This type of annotation can be viewed by everyone on a single ship, or in the whole fleet, or in the office and the fleet.
Suggestion for Change: This annotation fulfills the requirement of the ISM Code for feedback from users to the Designated Person. The user who makes this type of annotation can thus alert the Designated Person on any issues which may need addressing, such as inconsistencies in the manual.
Approved: Only the Designated person is allowed to create and distribute this type of annotation. The Approved Annotation notifies users of changes between issuing manual versions. When the manual is updated, the relevant Approved Annotations that have been incorporated are deleted.
